How to read a food-container model code
Find the identifier that matters before shopping for a replacement lid.
Read the base before the lid
The broken lid can help, but start with the container you are keeping. Note its brand, product line, complete model code and capacity. A faint letter is worth checking twice: a shortened code can send you to a different closure system.
Turn the empty, clean container over and use light from the side to make raised lettering easier to read. Write the code exactly as shown rather than converting it to a capacity description. If only part of the code is legible, leave the match unresolved.
A one-letter difference that matters
Our catalog treats Pyrex Simply Store 7201 and Snapware Total Solution 7201R as different records. Both relate to round 4-cup glass containers, but the documented replacement pages are different. Searching “4-cup lid” removes precisely the detail that distinguishes them.
Keep these four details together
- Brand: the name on the container.
- Line: for example, Simply Store or Total Solution.
- Code: include letters and suffixes.
- Shape and capacity: useful cross-checks, not proof of fit.
Use our lookup to reach the manufacturer page, then compare the listing with your own container. If the details disagree, pause the purchase and resolve the difference with the manufacturer.
